Hi my dearest friends! I hope all is well in your lives today. Today I'm discussing exercise and why it is so important for your physical, mental, and spiritual health! We, of course, have all heard of exercise but what is it really?? Frankly, it's just the simple act of moving your body in a way that benefits your mind, body, and soul. There are all different opinions out there of what kinds of workouts you SHOULD be doing but honestly, the key here is to just find something you enjoy doing. Exercising should not be torture. So, what are your favorite ways to move your body? And how do you feel after you do them? Different exercises can affect the body in different ways. For instance, if you are in a high-stressed environment either at home or at your job, a high-stressed HIIT workout can exaggerate the problems within the body. Stress causes inflammation in the body. Some stress is, of course, fine and sometimes necessary. But if you are in a chronic state of stress, that will begin to wreak havoc on your body. If you find you have a very stressful life right now, opt for workouts like:

  • Yoga

  • Tai Chi

  • Qi Gong

  • Dancing

  • Relaxing walks in nature

  • Having sex

  • Easy cycling

  • Liftjng weights

  • AND focusing on the breath in all of these

I'm definitely not against HIIT workouts, rigorous bike rides, or running, though. They are amazing for the body! They are great for building strength, toning, cardiovascular health, burning calories, etc. They are also amazing at releasing endorphins, managing short-term stress, building emotional resilience, and mental toughness. One cool health benefit about working out is how exercise changes the microbiome (gut bacteria populations). When we exercise, it can actually change the physiology of the gut! It can help soothe the enteric nervous system which is the guts own nervous system and it can help change the diversity of gut bacteria in a good way! Exercise can also:

  • reduce emotional stress

  • help release tension in the body

  • move out stagnant energy

  • give you more energy to thrive in life

  • build a strong and healthy body

  • move blood and oxygen through the body

  • help with digestion

  • reduce inflammation in the body

  • improve your mood and confidence

  • help shed those unwanted pounds

Those sound like amazing benefits to me! I’d love to hear, what are your favorite types of exercise you do?! Comment below! _____________________________________________________________ May you live your life with purpose, passion, and joy. Have Courage, my Friends!
